Parndon Wood
With 1.5km nature trail, three bird watching hides, a large pond, and a conservation centre.Parndon Wood Nature Reserve is an area of ancient woodland home to a huge range of birds, small mammals, deer, flora and fungi. Recorded as a woodland for over 900 years, Parndon Wood is composed of a canopy of oak with coppiced hornbeam growing beneath.
The reserve is a Special Site for Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its variety of flora and has received a Green Flag Award, which recognises the best parks in the country, for the last 11 years. Visitors can follow the 1.5km trail, or simply explore the wood’s many tracks and paths. There are three observation hides, where you can wait quietly for a glimpse of a green woodpecker or Muntjac deer. In the accessible conservation centre, learn about the local wildlife from the classroom full of woodland specimens, taxidermy and information posters.

Essex Pedal Power
Essex Pedal Power (Harlow) is a community cycling scheme that provides free, high‑quality bikes to eligible residents to help improve health, reduce transport costs, and support access to work, education, and local services.
Offers brand‑new adult and children’s bikes, plus helmet, lock, pump, lights, and training. Bikes are loaned for 12 months, and if used regularly, they can become yours to keep. Includes cycle confidence sessions, maintenance support, and group rides. Aims to increase physical activity, reduce inequalities, and support sustainable travel in Harlow.
